Curriculum Vitae

Medical Diploma in 1987, PUCRS - Brazil.

Mentored in thoracic radiology by Professor Nelson Porto, at Pavilhão Pereira Filho (PPF) da Santa Casa de Porto Alegre. Worked at PPF and Irion Radiologia until moving to the UK in 2004.

Doctorate on Reference Values of Normality for Emphysema Quantification (2000-UFRGS). In the UK worked at the Pennine Acute Trust until 2006, then moved to work in Liverpool in a joint post for Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital and Liverpool University Hospital, where had been Clinical Director for Radiology in both trusts.

Moved to work as a thoracic radiologist at Manchester University Foundation Trust in 2016. In 2018 was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Thoracic Imaging at the Division of Infection Immunity and Respiratory Medicine from the School of Biological Sciences of the University of Manchester.

Current main interests are imaging in lung cancer, quantitative imaging in COPD and diffuse lung diseases and lung MRI. Scientific production includes over 20 book chapters, over 180 publications on PubMed and over 200 lectures as guest speaker in several countries.
